The Carnival tradition is deeply ingrained in the Maltese culture, so February in Malta means that one can enjoy a variety of activities during this week

Valletta’s brightly coloured carnival floats with different themes, some even featuring political satire, are a definite must-see. These lorries parade throughout main streets in Valletta, showcasing dancers amidst a cheering crowd.

The boldest carnival experience is definitely Gozo’s Nadur Carnival, where numerous people head to Malta’s 15-minute ferry-away sister island of Gozo. Locals dress in spontaneous and purposely outrageous costumes, which mark the true sentiment of the carnival. A mirroring event happens also in souther Malta village Ħal Għaxaq, which is also gaining popularity these last few years

A first-date cliche, but watching a movie in the oldest city cinema theatre is always a romantic go-to. Watch free screenings of classical high-end movies at Cinema Bar by City Lights; one the cosiest venues of the city

The former adults-only cinema has reopened its doors the past few years, featuring also a cinema-themed-bar with the best range of beer and spirits to choose from. Just in case you want to add that extra bit of nostalgia to your experience, popcorn is on the menu too.

Kantilena | 22/02 | Robert Sammut Hall

An intimate evening organised by the celebrated Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kantilena event will showcase performers who will exhibit some of the best artistic selection of works and songs strung by both cello and harp

The sopranos will recount poems in the form of music, enhancing an emotional experience between performers and viewers.

If you appreciate intimate expressions of art and the beautiful sounds of harps and cello, Kantilena can prove to be an alternative night out worth your time.
