And we start travelling again…

After the unexpected travel break from March to June, Malta International Airport is re-opening again for international travel, for the moment to 24 destinations from July 1st, and to all destinations from July 15th.

Domus Zamittello has always been renowned for its high cleaning standards, but during these recent times, we have had to look at ways to redevelop our procedures in order to safeguard the health and safety of our guests, as well as team members. In this post-COVID era, we are further stepping up those measures through the hotel.

It all starts with our team members, with the hands-on ones in housekeeping and maintenance departments using gloves, which will be frequently changed. All team members will use masks or face shields, even though social distancing will be observed at all times.

Malta International Airport is re-opening on July 1st.

Upon Arrival

Each guest and employee will be checked for body temperature upon entrance to the hotel main entrance. Sanitization stations will be made available in all common areas to ensure no spreading of germs.

Our reception desk has been installed with a Perspex partitioning for the additional protection of guests as well as team members. Our pre-arrival check-in will ensure that minimal to no physical contact is required. All charges can be processed contactless, also via MEWS payment or Apple Pay.

All key cards will be disinfected prior to being passed on to our guests, who will also guide us to the amount of assistance you may require with their luggage.

Public Areas

Our main doors, all lobby surfaces and frequently touched areas such as elevator buttons will be frequently sanitized by our team members.

Elevators should be used one person at a time or a group of four at a time should guests be staying in the same room. Our team members who will escort you to your room will make use of a separate adjoining service elevator. Our team member will also stop just outside the guests’ door to explain the room facilities and answer any questions one may have.

Our renowned third-floor terrace overlooking Valletta City Gate and Freedom square will also be available for guest use. Over here, as in the rest of the hotel, additional measures have been out in place to ensure guest safety.

All chairs, tables, sofas and deckchairs will be regularly sanitized, even if not used. All sanitized areas will be clearly marked for guests’ peace of mind.

Housekeeping

Prior to each guest’s arrival, each room will not all only be steamed but also sanitized using dry steam with our EV steamer and Sanix disinfectant, which is a hospital approved solution. Also, during this delicate time, we will ensure that rooms for departing guests are not used for the arriving ones on the same day.

The steam mixes together with the liquid and creates a perfect fogging mixture for spraying on every kind of surfaces.

All the in-room printed collateral, including the room service menus, mini bar lists, TV lists and guest directory will be replaced with a QR Code. A disposable printed version will be made available on demand.

During this post-COVID-19 period, we will offer all our guests additional flexibility. Apart from being able to message us directly via MEWS messenger (our hotel front office and booking system), you can call or leave the purposely sanitized signs on your door.

One can opt to have their room cleaned, as usual, have all your linen changed, completely not cleaned, or have a change of towels on demand and not have any team members enter your room.

Mezzodi Restaurant

Apart from the daily sanitization of the kitchen and the restaurant, our food and beverage servers will be wearing a mask during service.

Your complimentary breakfast will all be served at the table since we will not be offering the buffet options at the moment. You will also notice that tables will be positioned in a way to ensure that all guests will have space between each other, thus ensuring social distancing during these times.

During this time of closure, Chef Ryan Vella has taken the time to redesign and come up with new dished on the menu to ensure the exceptional gastronomical experience for which Mezzodi is renowned.

Behind the Scenes

As much as we are here to ensure that our guests’ safety is a priority, we handle the safety of our team members with the same solemnity as that of our guests. Team members have their own space when changing, ensuring that uniforms are worn only for work, and are cleaned as appropriate.

We also ensure distancing in offices, laundry room and all back of house areas; these areas are equipped with sanitization stations just like our public areas, and all surfaces and handles are also regularly sanitized.

Your Booking

Flexibility with our guests’ booking has always been in our nature. However, for your additional peace of mind, we are now also offering advance bookings with Free Cancellation up to three days ahead of arrival and payment upon arrival, as well as changeable advance purchase rates.

Your Stay

With all the safety precautions being taken care of by the Domus Zamittello team, we urge guests to enjoy their stay with us, but most importantly their stay in Malta. It is worth mentioning that the World Health Organization has commended Malta from way back in March when WHO European regional director Hans Kluge said that Malta is a ‘country to follow’ as he praised the measures introduced to fight the spread of coronavirus in Malta.

Enjoy your stay with us here at Domus Zamittello. Rest assured that all the necessary precautions have been taken care of – your peace of mind will ensure that your stay here is not only a safe one but a memorable one as well!
