Best cultural events happening in Valletta this summer
Valletta Film Festival | 14/06 – 23/06 | Various venues
Starting out in 2015, The Valletta Film Festival has become one of the leading cultural events of the year.
For 10 days straight over a hundred films will be featured from many different corners of the world. These will be held in several picturesque spots and venues in Valletta, some of which will be transformed into open-air cinema theatres.
The organising foundation prides itself in using the audio-visual as a common point for global culture.

Malta Jazz Festival | 15/07 – 20/07 | Various Venues
A top selection of the best local and international musicians, this yearly July activity organised by the Malta Arts Council, offers a feast for the senses. Each event will be hosted in different venues, all of which resonate with Valletta’s charm and character.
Apart from the performances, The Malta Jazz Festival will be hosting several instrumental masterclasses and workshops. Most of the events will be free to attend.
Malta International Arts Festival | 28/06 – 14/07 | Various venues
Malta International Arts Festival 2019 promises an extensive showcase of all sorts of arts and performances, which strike a chord to all tastes and preferences.
Each event is elaborately designed to offer the best out of the experience by choosing the most magical locations on the island. Ranging from the mystical Ħaġar Qim Temples, to the Silent City of Mdina, to the Three Cities and Valletta, and more.
This festival will run for about two weeks in the beginning of summer, so we’re sure that whatever your plans during your stay in Malta, it would be worthwhile to make room for the many artistic events which this festival has in plan.
Delicata Wine Festival | 08/08 – 11/08 | Upper Barrakka Gardens

The Delicata wine industry started off humbly as a small family-run business. More than a hundred years later, the winery stands as a leading brand that produces fine wines made exclusively from locally-grown grapes.
This 18th edition of the Delicata Wine Festival at The Upper Barrakka Gardens welcomes connoisseurs, or curious visitors, to enjoy a glass of good wine al fresco while enjoying a panoramic view over the Grand Harbour. The event features a combination of live music, cooking stalls, and of course, free-flowing wine.
From the 8th till the 11th of August, the event starts at 7pm and runs till midnight.
Notte Bianca | 05/10 | Various venues
An established and very popular event in Malta, the annual Notte Bianca lights up the capital city during the cooler-but-still-hot October nights.
All sorts of leisure and entertainment can be enjoyed during this event, where bars and restaurants are open till late night and where state palaces and buildings open their doors for the public. Also, various free theatrical, musical and other artistic performances are scheduled throughout the night for the public’s enjoyment.
Notte Bianca is a magical nocturnal event which further highlights Valletta’s beauty and vibrancy at any time of year.

Isle of MTV | 09/07 | Granaries, Floriana
For the young and young-at-heart, hot artists Ava Max, Bebe Rexha and Martin Garrix will be part of the lineup for this year’s edition of Isle of MTV, happening at the Granaries in Floriana, which is just a 7-minute walk from Domus Zamittello.
The concert can be enjoyed for free and is open to everyone.
